  1. I will most definitely be trying this! I hate buying shampoo because they either leave my hair flat as a pancake or fluffy like a poodle. Thank you.

    1. Cheers Cassandra, yes i know what you mean, shampoo with chemicals leaves my hair a frizzy dry mess haha

    1. Thanks for your comment Ashley, i agree it is really scary! And not only the FDA it seems to be the case everywhere. Being aware of it is most important. At least you have choice once you know what you’re applying…

  2. Thank you for sharing this. Who would have known that all those chemicals would be in beauty products? I have been using all natural products for a while now and everyone needs to consider it!

    1. Mindy i totally agree, i started using all natural products a few years back and noticed my skin improving immediately. I suffered from acne in my teens and well into my 20s and tried tonnes of products over the years. I believe it was only when i finally decided to try organic and natural skincare that it was all my skin needed! I never looked back

  3. Yes! It is CRAZY what is in our products! Over the last 4 years I’ve been switching out as many of our household and personal care products as possible to try to get the toxic chemicals out and off of us.

    1. You are right to Caitlin, that documentary My Chemical Life was a big eye opener for me. I had no idea there are chemicals on almost every surface and even in our food, so why would you want to add any more?!

  4. Good post. I’ve switched to all natural products long time ago. I really try my best to avoid any of these toxic chemicals. I’ll bookmark this for future reference as it’s hard to remember all the names ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Same here Kasia, they are hard to avoid but when you really think about it its quite worrying. Its hard to remember the names so thats a good idea!

  5. Thanks for sharing this! I’ve switched to 100% natural products with ingredients I can pronounce and recognize ๐Ÿ™‚ It has made a huge difference to my skin. I barely have any rosacea flare ups now. Thanks for sharing this list as more people need to be made aware

    1. Glad to hear it Isabelle, i was a bit sceptical about how effective natural products would actually work in improving my skin. Needless to say i was over the moon when i realised how much better my skin was without all the harsh chemicals. Especially when u read how detrimental they can be to your health. I really feel better having detoxed my body from all the pollutants – and it shows.

  6. Yes totally agree. We have so strick laws over here for food etc. But makeup and skincare isa different story. I’m trying to use natural products only now for skincare

    1. Hi Tash, very true, people are a lot more aware of chemicals in food production and the organic food is tested vigorously in order to obtain organic status.Unfortunately organic branded cosmetics are often deceiving to people as they’re not regulated enough. Check out my Facebook page Ciara Doran NYR Organic Independent Consultant@NYROrg for more info on the labelling of certified organic tested products as i just posted an article there. You will know what labels to trust and look out for

  7. Lovely post! I need to get in to the habit of using masks / exfoliate more often. Daily I generally tend of double cleanse, tone and moisturise and if I have a good eye serum I pop that on too.

    1. Hi Roxsanne, thanks for your comment. I have heard of double cleansing but never tried it. I will definitely give it a go. For now, this regime is really working well for me so i recommend trying it. Toning before moisturising definitely helps. Do let me know how it goes for you anyway!

  8. Really beautiful blog post! I have also a blog post about 5 tips to increase your value as a person. I share similar ideas.
I have also read the sectet!

    1. Thanks Malalai, it is a great motivator to stay positive and thanks for your positive vibes! Much appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Thank you for sharing ! This is so useful, I feel as if people really don’t pay attention to what is in their product and they need to !

    1. Hi Ell, thanks for your comment. That is so true, i think people just don’t realise since cosmetic companies are under no obligation to disclose, other than in the ingredients list. Its not something they want us to know, which is a worry. I find myself reading the labels in horror when I’m shopping now!

  10. It’s scary how much junk they put into our products. I’ve been trying to make smarter decisions but it can be so hard! Thanks for such in depth and informative post.

    1. Thanks Kimberley, I was really shocked to find out myself so thought i would spread the word. It is an eye-opener for sure

  11. I actually watched a show recently showing harmful products that women were using before (unaware of the fact that they were harmful of course) so I was wondering if the same is happening today. Thanks for sharing this article, it’s really useful.

    1. Yeah its still happening today and looks likely to continue Andrea, be careful when choosing your products. Thanks for the comment

  12. I have started to learn a little about organic and safe products for skin care but I feel like I need to go home and clean out my bathroom of all of these bad products.

    1. Thats exactly how i felt Kaylee, i wanted to bin most of my products and so i did! Talk about a detox, it felt great afterwards. It was hard to do considering most of them were expensive but when u really think about it its an easy choice. Always look out for organic certified products or make your own if you want to be sure. Check out my blog for DIY skincare or my online shop in the link. You will see the certification and know what to look for aswell. Cheers

  13. A very interesting post that I truly enjoyed reading. It is so important to know what we are putting on our faces. I always try to look for products that are organic but it isn’t always that easy to do.

    1. Hi Tessa, glad you like the article and thanks. You’re right about that, its very hard to find natural and organic products in shops. Thats why i make my own or else use certified organic products from Neal’s Yard. If you want to see more check out my blog, I’m always on the lookout for similar products and i love trying out homemade stuff. Im currently working on a little ebook so stay tuned or if you want to subscribe, even better. Organic and natural skincare doesn’t have to cost a fortune, in fact, it can save you money! Good luck in transitioning to organic skincare!

  14. You write so well and your recipe is healthy and delicious. I love eating healthy and it must be also delicious! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks Malalai, thats such a nice compliment! Hope you enjoy and stay tuned for there are plenty more where that came from!

  15. I will definitely try this at home, nice blog,so many helpful tips here.I saved your blog on desktop ,will definitely check and looking for great skincare tips here.Thank you

    1. Hi Lindsay, thanks for that, I’m glad you like it. Delighted to hear you are following and i will defo be adding loads of skincare tips. Its an obsession of mine! Cheers ๐Ÿ˜‰

  16. I love the look of your blog and this all sounds like excellent advice. I especially like the greenery/plant suggestion. I usually love having plants and succulents in the house but I don’t have any currently – I need to rectify that! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks so much, I adore plants as you prob noticed and the Feng Shui has improved drastically in my house. Those plants i mentioned are all available at most garden centres. Sure try out my other techniques and let me know how it goes. Ill be adding lots more on the subject of de-cluttering your life if you want to subscribe. Ill keep you posted! Cheers ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. Plants add so much calm to a room! Our house and renovation sounds so much like yours. The wallpaper on our ceiling made me cry.

    1. Oh Kristen, i feel your pain haha. We ended up getting one of those water sprayers which helped but the best part was done with a scraper by hand!! The joys! What i will say is that the end result was hugely satisfying and i realise now why wallpaper went out of fashion. We actually ended up wallpapering over the ceiling again after i had painstakingly hand scraped it all off bit by annoying bit. Grrrrr!!! Nuff said. Its white and large lengths on the ceiling so doesn’t interrupt the zen. Bon courage with your decorating and thanks for the comment x

  18. Indoor plants are so pretty! I need to add more to my house. And I agree that doing small things every day can help keep a room clean. I always try to make my bed in the morning.

    1. Hi Davi, i love having the plants around, they really give a feeling of serenity and they look fab. Yeah the little things you do in your stride make it a lot easier to maintain. Im way more conscious of the effect those little things have in helping keep on top of the cleaning. Its so much easier than having to do a massive clean-up and definitely gives peace of mind. De cluttering = de stressing for me!

  19. Finally moved into a spot with some sunlight, definitely going to take some of your plant suggestions ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Congrats on the Liebster. ๐Ÿ™‚
I love that you speak Irish. Going to Ireland is at the top of my bucket list, and France is a close second!

    1. Hi Paige, thanks for your comment. You should defo go to Ireland and if you go to some places they still speak Irish there. Its called the Gaelteacht and theyre mainly little villages scattered around the West. France is very beautiful, theres a lot more of it i want to explore. The food is what i love most! Hope you get to visit some day x

  21. I’ve only just seen your post as I’ve been away on holiday! You have a great blog! Thanks for the kind words about my photographs ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

    1. Thanks Roxsanne, hope you had a lovely holiday. Keep those lovely photos coming, i love your blog x

    1. You should go, put it on your bucket list. Its the most beautiful place in the world. I think so anyway. And the kiwis are really great people, very welcoming and great humour

  22. Thanks so much thats so sweet! I would love to see Ireland one day.
Also I could make a trucker blush… swearing is a hard habit to break lol!

    1. Hi Mandi, do go to Ireland if you get the chance. You will love it, its so unique. You would have great craic as we say. FFS i know, need to get my act together lol

  23. Such a great post! Love reading these sorts of posts where you can get to know the person ore in detail. You made me well up when you mentioned about where you would like to go one day, Cuba but really if you could it would be to heaven to see your dad. That hit close to home for me, as I feel the exact same way for me too. Hugs x

  24. I really love this! I loved learning more about you! And your bucket list, the Inca Trail! I wanna go as well! Beautiful post.

  25. Congratulations on the award! This is such a great post. I always love reading these as it’s great to get to know the person behind the blog better!

    1. Thanks Samantha, it was a fun one to do, i have to say. Its nice to have feedback too. Cheers!

  26. Society has gotten so sidetracked it is sad. We took our foster son to the mall and stopped to play at the little playground and looked around as my husband and I played with him and there was not one set of eyes up looking at the children play. Every parent had their device up and was not paying a bit of attention to the world around them much less their children. Very sad.

    1. Tracy thank you so much for your meaningful comment. I absolutely agree with what you’re saying and i hate that behaviour. Im no judge as I’m certain I’ve done it myself at some point but that is why i wrote this article so i completely agree. Those are the memories you want to keep forever, not some stupid phone, i 100PERCENT hear you!!

  27. I also agree that communication behind publication and phone communication is becoming a problem for everyone. For me I sometimes try to take a break from it all by taking a vacation and putting away my phone. But overall I believe this is becoming a problem for everyone. We are all becoming less social in person. Thanks for sharing and raising more awareness to this issue.

    1. Hi Adrina, thanks for your comment. So true, and very well said. Awareness is key. I would love a vacation without my phone, i think we all would. Somebody take my phone away heheee!

  28. Awesome article ! Well written. I believe almost everyone is a culprit of “phubbing” technology is taking over and it’s sad at times! ):

    1. Hi Ell, thanks for the reply. Very true in this day and age and i agree, pretty much everyone is a culprit. At least its nice to know I’m not the only one. However its defo something we need to work on. Cheers!

  29. I can’t say that I have ever heard of this term before or even the definition of it. Learn new things everyday.

    1. Janel the reason i wrote this post was because i read the word the other day by chance and the harsh realisation was a slap in the face. I’m a complete phubber and its been going on too long now

    1. Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one Clare. Its a nice reassurance that I’m not the only phubber out there thanks!!

  30. What a great article! We are all so much into our phones nowadays, that we often forget that there ever was a time when people lived without it and actually survived.

    1. Marina, i hear you! Thanks for the nice compliment on my article. I absolutely agree, i mean it seems bizarre not to have phone but it leaves the question. Is it better or worse? very debatable

  31. This post makes me so sad because it is so true. I am trying to raise my kids low tech but every time we turn around, technology is being thrown from multiple directions. Phones are a big pet peeve of mine (said from my smart phone- oh the irony). I’m guilty as much as the next person, but I really do miss interactions where people did just that. Interacted!

    1. Nicole, don’t feel bad, its not as bad as u think. Once u realise the problem u will absolutely work on it. Its not there to make u feel bad, but to help u realise there’s more to life than crappy phones. Im sure u are on the right track like myself. Feel free to share this with the people who matter. Its an eye-opener and a lot of time ppl don’t even notice.

  32. Awesome write-up! wonderfully written. Tech. taking over everything is very disturbing

    1. Thanks Nikhila, so nice of you to say. Glad you like the article. I do miss the old style of communication, i have to say. I haven’t received a personal letter since i was 12! I would love to start writing letters instead of texts

    1. Aw thanks for the comment, they are really good quality too. Very beautiful clothes to suit most figures and so practical too!

    1. Hi Emily, yeah apparently they were featured in Vogue before. Very classic and elegant and best of all ethical

  33. I’ve never heard of this company before, but all of the pieces look stunning. PLUS, it makes them even more perfect because they are environmentally friendly!

    1. Hi Kirsten, i agree, i was captivated by the whole collection. So versatile and perfect for travelling. Especially the reversible dress. All of them can be dressed up or down. So clever and brilliant for the environment yes!

  34. I’ve never heard of this company before! that off the shoulder white dress is adorable! I’m definitely excited to check them out!

    1. Hi Amy, yeah i had to spread the word, they’re gorgeous and so comfy too

  35. Never heard of this particular brand, but I love eco-friendly clothes! I’ve actually found them to be more durable and softer!

    1. Hi Ashley, that true, not many people realise the effect fast fashion is having and has had on the planet. Glad u agree ๐Ÿ™‚

  36. So cute! I never really thought about eco friendly clothing, but this brand doesn’t sacrifice the style!

    1. Hi Emily, Eco fashion is definitely on the rise and theres obviously no compromise on style here! Fab collection

    1. Hi Jenny, thanks for your comment. I agree, they are really stunning clothes and accessories. Eco fashion is the way to go!

  37. Okay.. I LOVED this!!! I use face mists every single day and I’m always buying new ones, not even considering that I should be making them myself!! Thanks so much for all of these suggestions! I’m definitely going to try them!

    1. Hi Kelly, thanks for your comment. They’re defo worth a try. If you use them all the time it’ll save you a fortune!

  38. This is fantastic! With the way the heat has been, this is just refreshing! I willtry a few of these definitely!

    1. Hi Lisa, the heat has been overwhelming here too. They’re really handy to have

  39. I really enjoyed these! Usually I’m not quick to jump on the self-care/love-yourself train, but I really enjoyed these tips! They seem like practical ways that you can add a little life into your day. It’s so easy to just run through your to-do list, but it’s nice to have the reminder to make sure you’re LIVING in a way that fills your soul as well. Thanks for sharing!

    1. So glad you like the list and id love to hear how you get on with it. Cheers!

  40. I think you’re self care tips are very relatable. Although I’m not sure it would be just for millennials. All 5 of my children are in the millennial generation and they have more me time than time for anyone else, LOL! I am a Generation X gal and never give myself me time. This is a good reminder that I should do so. Thank you!

    1. Hi Chrissy, hope you are taking the challenge! You sound like u deserve to take some time for yourself. I can imagine you’re a very busy mum.

  41. Ciara, these are really well thought out self-care tips. I realized as I read this post that I do implement many of these in my life but perhaps not on a regular basis. I am going to pick one of these to do for each of the next 15 days and be more intentional about taking care of myself. Saved your post so I will be reminded daily. Today I am going to walk bare foot in the grass, something I haven’t done in far too long. Thank you!

    1. Hi Lisa, thanks and glad you like the post. Its so important to look after yourself as people often neglect themselves. Glad you are trying out the challenge. Im going to do it too. Let me know how it goes!

  42. I wish I would’ve done more of these things when I was younger. I think maybe I wouldn’t be a frazzled forty-year-old. Both my millennial daughter and I love, love, love sleep!

    1. Haha thats funny. I do love my sleep too, a bit too much actually. But its good for you so can’t be a bad thing

    1. Hi Bobbi, it certainly is and more people need to look after themselves properly in this day and age or risk burnout

  43. I am a fan of pretty much all of these things! Walking, music and a good sleep are my number one favourites though. I always find writing to be VERY therapeutic and promote it as much as possible on my blog. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Jess, thanks for the comment and your input. Writing does often help. Its very therapeutic, i agree

  44. Ciara, I loved reading this! I was writing a post very similar…from my time as a vegan and my week of taking time for myself. I totally agree with you that we need to take time for ourselves.. I am seriously the worst at this! I usually go and go until I feel completely exhausted and then the day that I actually relax, I usually get sick. I am planning on scheduling out times throughout my week to give back to myself!

    1. Hi Erin, it sounds like you really needed that week to yourself! I hope the list helps. Look after yourself ๐Ÿ™‚

  45. WoW! I really needed this article! Having two little kids and tour work and other reaponsibilities we forget to take care of ourself. Really great! I will teeet this article!

    1. Thanks so much Malalai, i can imagine its hard to find time with 2 kids as i have 2 babies at home. Its even more reason to remember self care. Thanks for Tweeting!

  46. Self care is important for physical health as well as your mind and soul, it’s important for your family and friends too. cause they learn from you

    1. Hi Oussama, i agree, and yes it is a good influence on your loved ones. All the more reason! Cheers

  47. Love this article! We all need this take time for ourselves sometimes, it makes us feel so much better. I started meditating and I feel a lot calmer.

    1. Thanks, glad you like it. I love meditating too, it definitely helps relieve stress

  48. I love your suggestions! The barefoot on the grass was interesting to me! I want to try it!

    1. Hi Michael, thanks so much for the feedback, I’m delighted that worked for you. Think I’ll arrange one myself now

    1. Hi Ying, thanks for the comment. Yes, i tried to make all of them easy to incorporate into day-to-day life so its easier to achieve for everyone. Now i feel like going walking in the grass again!

  49. I always prefer products with natural ingredients. Thanks for such a informative post, surly I will try orange flower face wash and toner as I have oily skin too.

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment and yes, absolutely try those out, my skin is in great condition now and not oily even in the heat here. Heres the link uk.nyrorganic.com/shop/ciaradoran

  50. Oh my goodness. I love this post so much. I’m trying to move towards a more natural lifestyle and I’m finding it hard to find products that are natural and that are compatible with my skin. I have a lot of skin allergies. I haven’t heard of any of the brands you mentioned, so I’ll definitely check them out!

I also loved the infographics so I’ve pinned them! Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Jojo, thank you, thats really nice to hear! Natural skincare is the way to go, especially if you have allergies. Let me know if you need any help choosing a product, I’m happy to help. Cheers!

    1. Its as easy as pie, in fact, easier! You have to try it, and do let me know what u think! Thanks

    1. OH they’re definitely yummy, u will have to make a batch and see for yourself!

    1. Thanks Caroline, they are ideal as a treat any tile of the day and defo with a good cup of tea or coffee ๐Ÿ™‚

  51. This is an awesome post! We are thinking about getting bees and this is so interesting to know! Definitely need to keep this on hand to use all parts of the hives later!

    1. Hi Antonia, thats really nice of you to say. That is really so fantastic that you are going to become a beekeeper! Awesome, hope it goes well and yes there are so many uses, well done for doing that.

  52. I love love love honey! Honey with my tea, with my oatmeal every morning, and with my mask and DIY hair treatment! Manuka is my favourite! I love your mask recipe.

    1. I love it too! I have it in my greek yoghurt for breakfast and love it as a hair product too. Glad you like the mask its prob my fave one ๐Ÿ™‚

  53. Superb! What great project! I always wanted to learn this kind of stuff. This is on point and on time, this will make the perfect Christmas gift for my girl friends thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Yadira, thank you and I hope you enjoy making them and trying them out. Do let me know how you get on! Cheers

  54. When you buy certified organic skin care products, you’re paying for high concentrations of pure, plant-based ingredients that enrich and nourish your skin. Certified organic essential oils, therapeutic grade cold pressed nut and seed oils, herbal extracts, essential fatty acids, omegas, natural vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, plant-based liposomes along with antioxidants are just some of the ingredients you will find in certified organic skin care. These ingredients are straight from nature and are formulated to work together synergistically to give you naturally radiant and healthy skin. This is exactly what I do at Human & Kind [organics] green beauty is the FUTURE. Great post ๐Ÿ™‚

  55. Off to get some blueberries;-) I love them and apparently they are so beneficial. I know there are some other fruits, vegetables or seeds but I really feel like having some blueberries ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hi Kamila, they are one of my faves for sure. So yummy! Check out the frozen yoghurt recipe on there. Wow, so good! Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Carina, glad the list is useful for you. There are so many, and not always on the shelves to see so its good to have a list. Good luck!

    1. Hi Mallory, glad you like the list. Im the same, I love having a list handy its easier to remember!

  56. Very detailed and fun to read. I only eat organic and use all natural products. For saving myself from all th chemicals, I would pay more for it. Worth every penny! Plus there are great ways to save. Stores have sales, farmers market and eating in seasons help as well.

    1. Hi Asaake, thanks for your comment. Same here, although I admit I can’t always find organic produce at the supermarket so I think ill start going to my local shop and farmers markets more often. I live in France so luckily fresh organic produce is abundant and they only eat whats in season here. Tastes so much better too. Natural skincare all the way, definitely!

    1. Thanks, you should check out my recipe section for some yummy healthy recipes. I’m a huge foodie so I have my cheat days, believe me! However, once you slowly start incorporating these, your body will start craving the healthier stuff so give it a go!

  57. I wish I like Greek yoghurt, as everyone recommends it but no matter what brand I try or what I put in it, I can’t stand it.

I’d no idea it was now 7-10 a day. When you’re eating all that, how are you supposed to have room for your biscuits? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. Hi Jessica, it doesn’t have to be greek yoghurt, I just prefer the taste myself. Natural yoghurt is fine, and you can add fruit and nuts etc for taste. Do check out my Greek frozen yoghurt recipes in the Search menu and please try one at least. They taste like ice-cream! You may change your mind ๐Ÿ™‚ Ps I always have time for biscuits. I have biscuit recipes too. . .

    1. Glad you like the post, I’ll be adding a fruit salad recipe soon which will be a great dessert or even breakfast as it’s so delicious. It will include 4/5 of your daily fruits! Stay tuned – and if you like raw peppers, why not put some cut pieces in a ziplock bag in the fridge and u can have as a snack whenever you feel like it? Good luck!

    1. Thanks for your comment. Im going to do a post dedicated to infused waters soon! Cheers

  58. I found this blog post so helpful! I tend to eat healthy as much as I can but you’ve inspired me to eat more of the right things!

    1. Hi Emma, im glad to be of help! I just started a health kick so I’m learning as I go along. Stay tuned!

  59. I’m travelling in Italy at the moment and it’s SO HOT! I need one of each of these! I’m going to try the pineapple and raspberry one tomorrow.

    1. Hi Sarah, sounds lovely, lucky girl! I actually made that combo up one day since I have an affection for pineapple upside down cake and once used raspberries instead of Murino cherries and tasted perfect. The water is a good thirst quencher and obviously eat the fruit too cos u can’t be letting good pineapple n raspberries go to waste now! Enjoy ur hols

  60. This is a seriously kick ass list! I’ve been working on drinking more water, cause one, I know it’s good for me, and two, I feel SO much better when I do.

I’ve been struggling as of late to get enough, so infusions, I’m using them to kick my ass into gear.

    Love it!

    1. Thanks Kate, I love drinking water now and couldn’t be bothered with juice or fizzy drinks anymore. So much healthier because of it. Hope it works s well for u as it did for me ๐Ÿ˜‰ Lets know how u get on x

  61. Love the sound of the night time blend. Will definitely try it! Thanks for the ideas. We have been using oils a lot for diffusing but haven’t made facial oils yet.

    1. Hi Sonya, I love facial oils and they’re so great since there are no chemicals involved so u really know what u are putting on your skin. Jojoba is fantastic for me. Im going to do an aromatherapy post soon so stay tuned if you’re interested! Cheers

    1. Hi Carolyn, I have had so many people comment that they love tea so much! Sure its great stuff altogether ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thanks Tracy, me too, u really cant beat a good cup of tea. Its a lifesaver, to be honest I don’t know what id do without it!

  62. I love drinking tea. I like green tea, but also any mix of black tea with fruits. I am currently addicted to cardamom tea. It’s fabulous after a meal as it aids digestion and cardamom is good for lung health as well. Teas have so many hidden benefits. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Good to know, thanks for the info, ill be sure to try it out! I was so surprised myself that there are just so many benefits! Makes me love tea even more ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for your comment

    1. Hi Jennifer, thanks for your comment. I have always been a big tea drinker but only just recently got into green tea. I think its an acquired taste but it is well worth sticking with and now I actually like it! Tonnes of health benefits. Good luck

  63. I’ve been interested in trying out a charcoal mask/scrub, so this came at the perfect time! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for providing these easy to follow instructions, too. Now, I just need to get some activated charcoal.

    1. Glad u like the post. Theres a link there for the activated charcoal too if you’re looking to buy top quality stuff online. Cheers

  64. Great list! I hadn’t heard of most of them. Definitely checking out Vinted. I’m obsessed with second-hand clothing!

    1. Thanks, you should check out App of the Day too its great. Glad u like the list. Cheers for the comment ๐Ÿ™‚

  65. I am so glad I found this post! I am a bit of an app junkie. My husband always gives me a hard time because I’m always downloading a new app. I have to try Remote Mouse and definitely need App of the Day. Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful apps. Off to the app store … lol

    1. Hi Toni, thats pretty cool I’m really into the apps too. They’re always coming up with cool ones that can make life easier and its fun to find new ones on App of the Day. Cheers!

  66. I’ve got all these ingredients on hand and look forward to whipping these masks up. I love using activated charcoal! It has so many uses. Thanks for the recipes!

    1. Thats great, let me know how you get on with them. It is a wonder mask, I just love charcoal ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Same here, its so satisfying peeling away the toxins. Charcoal is perfect for it. Lets know how it goes for u. Cheers

    1. Hi Melissa, they re always coming up with clever ideas eh? She will love the case, I’m sure. Stopovers are non-negotiable for these long journeys with babies. I can’t imagine not having one!!!

  67. Long time tea drinker here (like over 40+ years!) I haven’t even heard of some of these. I have normally enjoyed black tea, as you said, and my favorite is Bigelow Constant Comment with the orange flavor. I have recently been drinking green tea with honey every day – usually a couple cups a day. I also have some white tea with ginger, which is really good.

    1. Hi, I’m delighted to have informed you of new teas to try out. I actually really like the taste of green tea now whereas never before. It was an acquired taste! I love honey too and have it daily with greek yoghurt and muesli for breakfast. I must try the ginger one. Thanks!

  68. I definitely needed this. WE are planning a trip to Disney and this will be the first time my 4 yr old and 10 month old have traveled. Definitely thinking about trying the trunki. I hope my 4 yr old is not too old for it.

    1. Hi Lauren, glad the list is useful for u. It says they are fine for up to 6 year olds so I reckon you can go for it ๐Ÿ™‚

  69. I look forward to and also dread a bit travelling with my daughter . You certainly are well prepared. Thanks for the suggestions I will know what to take along with me ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Glad to be of some help, I’m dreading it too but we will make it as plain sailing as humanly possible! Best of luck ๐Ÿ˜‰

  70. That is a huge trip with such young children. I have done it 4 times without any, and I struggled. Good luck and safe travels.

    1. Hi Tom, I know, it will be a huge challenge so fingers crossed, we are well prepared at least!

  71. Great suggestions, especially for folks planning for all their holiday travels. This is an in-depth post with lots of information!

  72. Practising gratitude daily is so important. I have noticed a difference since starting my gratitude journal a few months ago. I am more aware of the little things in life that I am grateful for. Thanks for sharing an important topic

  73. I really need to start thinking this way at times..Sometimes we just let your emotions take over and explode when we should be grateful! Or maybe that’s just me but either way I loved reading this and I needed to hear it. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Christin, it takes a while to master it but with baby steps you start noticing the changes quite early on. Give it a go and let me know how works for u. Good luck!

    1. Thanks Karla, thats very true, we need to appreciate our lives more and stop complaining as we are lucky. Try the positive affirmations of the things you love about your life and are thankful for every day and you are well on your way. Maybe write them down if needs be and read until you do it naturally. Let me know how it goes!

  74. I think being able to appreciate the good things that happen in our life is the secret to making more good things happen. It makes you more excited and energetic about life. Thanks for such a thorough and personal post ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Fabiana, thanks for your comment. That is it, it means you are naturally removing the negativity by replacing those thoughts with positive ones daily. Once this becomes habit, you notice less negativity in your life! Good luck x

  75. Positive thinking has so much influence on your life!I find it hard to actively and deliberatly think about things I’m grateful for, but I try, Because negative thinking isn’t helping anyone ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. It certainly does! Try telling yourself its easy to be grateful and that it is the way to bring contentment into your life and then eventually you will believe it.

  76. Iโ€™m in the process of strengthening my positivity through exercise and random acts of kind Edโ€™s, itโ€™s amazing what little things we can control to sway our mind towards positive thoughts ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Hi Bridget, thats great, me too! I need to start exercising too, there will be no stopping me then haha

  77. I’ve been practicing gratitude for the past few months now and all I can say is that you’re so correct on that. I went from a negative person to a more positive and forgiving person. I can’t repeat and turn back the past but I am sure that that’s what makes me, me. Very nice post!

    1. Hi Ellen, that is great to hear. I love hearing peoples life changing stories! Well done you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  78. Thank you for an extensive list including some personal insight. It is one thing to have a list of supplements with some information, but personal, first-hand knowledge is so useful.

    1. Hi Kelly, thanks for saying so. All have their uses but not all are needed so it really depends on the person but I absolutely recommend a multi vitamin and Omega 3. Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Kristi, that is fantastic good on you. I wish I had time to dabble in that end of things. Spirulina is something I have introduced recently and I think its great also.

  79. These are great! Iโ€™m not taking a multi vitamin but I should be taking a few of these. I donโ€™t like to take meds unless I have to so Iโ€™m only on birth control pills & anxiety meds. Iโ€™m going to the doctor next Friday, I am taking this list.

    1. Hi Samantha, the Forever Living one is good. I was recommended that one by a friend who sells it and they have a lot of backup to prove its potency and quality. Cheers

    1. Hi D, thanks for your comment! I try to drink it as much as poss and I love the taste now that I’m used to it

  80. This is a beautiful post! Thank you so much for writing on this topic. I am actually going to be doing a blog post on this soon since we are nearing November. I think this is something that we should practice every day and teach others as well… I am sure you are a great mother and are teaching your daughters to be grateful and thankful as well.

    1. Aww thanks for saying so. Glad you like the post and you are very sweet for writing to me :):)

  81. Natural oils really are amazing. I love Coconut and Aragon oil…these are my favorites.
P.S. I am also a fan of essential oils so I cannot wait for that post.

    1. Yeah I love it too for everything but I have oily skin so its not great for my face as a moisturiser. Grapeseed or roseship are best for faces I think!

    1. Coconut oil is such a fantastic all-rounder. I do recommend the organic one though. My teeth are whitened since using it for oil pulling in the mornings too.

  82. Girl! You did your research! I loved reading about different oils, some history of the oils and which oils to use for what! I love coconut oil and have used a lot, but I may need to step out and try some others!

  83. I love coconut oil. I condition my hair with it, as it penetrates the hair shaft it leaves hair really nice and smooth and frizz free. I also like making body scrubs with coconut oil, rose oil and some Himalayan salt. It’s amazing for my skin. Thank you for sharing such wide variety of oils. Pinned.

  84. I love this! I use coconut, jojoba, olive and almond oil regularly. They all work wonders ๐Ÿ˜Š. I’ll have to give some of the others that you mention a try! Thanks for sharing โ™ก

  85. Love Neals Yard and their products and this baked highlighter is just dreamy – something I would treat myself this Christmas ๐Ÿ™‚ I think sets are such value for money. Great selection ๐Ÿ™‚

  86. I love these gift ideas! I particularly love that theyโ€™re centered on self-care which is what many ladies need this season! Iโ€™ve been eyeing makeup products from antonym and quit excited to give it a try soon.

  87. The fact the all the products are natural and they don’t contain a pile of chemical is so important! Thank you for this brilliant ideas!

    1. Absolutely I agree, I worry about the chemicals in skincare a lot so these ones are a breath of fresh air ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Thatโ€™s brilliant, glad u like them and Iโ€™d be delighted to hear how u get on thanks!

    1. Same here haha! I have a lot of the Neal’s Yard products but I’m due to stock up so hinting for Christmas ๐Ÿ˜‰

  88. Avocado for me is one of the best things on this world – the most often i only cut it on half and eat it with a bit of salt but i actually use it in many different ways and its always amazing. thank you for sharing!

  89. Ok. You had me at avocado, tomato, and garlic (three of my favorite things!) and then I read the rest of the recipes and I’m not lying when I say my mouth is watering! I never realized I even liked avocados until a couple of years ago when my friend John Michael cut one up for me and sprinkled it with sea salt! I always thought avocado was just like the runny stuff you get in a Mexican restaurant! Turns out I love avocado…and chunky guacamole! Thanks for the breakfast ideas. Scrumptious!

    1. Hi Renee, its really amazing stuff isn’t it? I was surprised myself when I read up about it.

  90. That’s a really good article. Thank you. I have a few products with aloe vera and I love them. It’s good to know what benefits this plant has.

    1. Thanks Anna, its great as a face mask in the morning. I keep it in the fridge and apply it cool, it wakes me up and really cleans the skin. Cheers

  91. I use hemp seeds but haven’t tried the oil yet! I need to Branch out and try this! I love anything that’s going to clean up my family’s diet.

  92. This is super cool. I don’t know if I have ever seen this product where I live, but I I have always loved good, natural honey for so many things!

    1. Hi Yvette, yeah you might not have seen it in the supermarket or even the chemist but its available online.

  93. Wow this is amazing. I never knew honey had so many benefits! Iโ€™m definetly going to give this a try!

    1. Yeah it is surprising the amount of health benefits from it and the fact it is all natural is fantastic

    1. Hi Juanita, i hadn’t heard of it until I came to New Zealand and read all the great health benefits

  94. Ooo! I’m going to have to check this out! So many great benefits. Being a mama I need all the help I can when it comes to those infections!

    1. Hi Renee, that is true. Give it a try and you will hopefully stave off infections. Best of luck

  95. I really like honey and prefer to use it instead of sugar. Ive heard a lot about the benefits of manuka honey but have never tried it myself. Thank you for stating the benefits so clearly.

    1. Hi Lucy, its a perfect substitute for sugar or artificial sweeteners and absolutely wonderful for your health. Thanks

    1. Thanks Heather, it is a fantastic all-rounder I just love it for adding to my Greek yoghurt it sweetens it perfectly and so healthy

    1. Thanks, it is important since a lot of people choose the natural route and it is brilliant for immunity

  96. I didn’t know all of this! I know that honey is good for you but this is great. Manuka honey is sooooo expensive here (in Australia) though. I’ve picked it up a few times and put it back. But I might reconsider now.

  97. This was a great, really in-depth article. Well-researched. I live in the Northeast, and in the winter months when everyone is getting sick, I mix Manuka honey with lemon juice in hot water every day. I swear it will clear up a cold in 1 day flat. I also used to put it on my face to help with slight acne flareups, but I didn’t see as much of an impact from that. Thanks for writing!

    1. Hi Britt, that is amazing it is so potent. It works really well as a facemark for me. I just put it on my T-Zone and it seems to de-clog pores within minutes.

  98. I’ve seen so many skin products come out recently boasting “Manuka Honey” and always wondered what the big deal was. Now, I get it. I’ll have to check into it as I use honey a lot. Why not bump up the benefits? Thanks so much for the info.

    1. Hi Valerie, I definitely recommend eating it for the best overall benefits, including the skin. In its pure form it makes a brilliant mask for clogged pores

  99. I had no idea Manuka had such great properties! Thank you for all the great info, I look forward to giving this a try!

    1. Glad to put the word out, Manuka is not found everywhere as its only made in NZ where the Manuka grows. I heard about it when I came to NZ but it is well known as an antibiotic and wound healing honey.

    1. So true, the more natural the remedy the less toxins our bodies need to work to process through.

  100. I found this so interesting Ciara. Recently I was craving honey and had no idea why. I bought some fresh honey that was made locally and even though I had not eaten it for years, I started having it on toast and in my tea. I felt a lot better with fewer tummy troubles and my sinuses were less irritated, now I know why. I honestly had no idea of all these benefits of honey but had just listened to my body at the time. Going to have to check out this supplement now, always worth the money it if is of good quality and beneficial for my health.

    1. Hi Lisa, that is so amazing ow our bodies crave what we need to fix them. Thanks for telling me, I always have it for my breakfast with Greek yoghurt and I crave it when I don’t have it too!

  101. Even though I’m allergic to honey which is the funniest thing for me to say every time to people who offer something with honey, I still need a good one like this for my skin care.Sounds like a really great product.

  102. Hi Ciara!
What a great post! Thank you for sharing, I will defiantly start using apple cider vinegar. Good to know that it does so many things to promote health and wellness!

    1. Hi Jen, that is great to know, glad to hear the ACV is working better than anything prescribed

  103. Great post! Iโ€™m curios about the detox with it. What do you do for that? Just a tbsp. straight up? I am definitely going to give some of these a try. Thanks!โ˜บ๏ธ

    1. Hi Debbie, it is best to mix a tablespoon of ACV in a glass of water with lemon and a sprinkle if cinnamon. It is a very strong taste so I tend to mix it with freshly squeezed juice instead though. Cheers

  104. Such a great post! Iโ€™ve heard so much about apple cider vinegar and the benefits but your post has helped so much!

  105. Thank you for sharing this important information! Women need to know what’s in the products they put on their skin every day! I am a big advocate for clean/green beauty and I love meeting others that support the cause! ๐Ÿ™‚

  106. Such great information. I have been switching out my personal care products and makeup and have noticed a huge difference in how my skin looks and feels. Iโ€™m using Savvy Minerals makeup now and my redness has definately calmed down.

    1. Great, I was so happy with the results when I switched to natural skin care too. I will check out the brand as I’m keen to try new mineral makeups

  107. Thanks for sharing! I have particularly sensitive skin and suffer from dermatitis, so I’m always mindful of the products I use. Good to know the ingredients to watch out for specifically

  108. Very good information here. Thank you so much for helping me understand the ingredients that I need to be on the lookout for! I just wish natural remedies weren’t so expensive. ๐Ÿ™

    1. Hi Chandra, natural remedies are often the cheapest. Check out the DIY skincare in my blogs skincare section. You can make lots of products with things you have in your kitchen cupboards that work as well if not better than branded cosmetics

  109. Good read it is always great to maintain a good ratio of flora in our digestive system. these are great suggestions on how to prevent bacterial colonization using just everyday foods. thanks for sharing.

    1. Thats good, you should try mixing the ACV with grapefruit juice and honey its not too bad

  110. I always looking at the ingredients when I look at skincare products. If the ingredients read like a story, I don’t get it.

  111. Such great info here โ€” I really want to work on getting my gut more healthy. Iโ€™m happy to see a lot of my favorites in the good gut food lists you provided here.

    1. Hi Marie, yeah these foods are nice and easy to add in to your diet. We need to nourish our bodies with lots of fruit and veg and of course the wholegrains, beans, lentils and fermented foods wherever possible

  112. I’ve been suffering gut related issues for some time now – and I’ve been mulling the concept of gut health and the bacteria that may be harming me. Truthfully, as stress builds, healthy eating seems to go by the wayside… and I suffer for it. Luckily, I enjoy most foods on the above lists – which may make this process of resetting my gut health easier!

    1. Hi Heather, stress is a factor of course. Try meditation. I use an app called Headspace and sometimes hypnosis downloads for de-stressing. Diet will definitely get you on the right track

  113. Thank you for all of this helpful information! I’ve been hearing more and more about the importance of gut health recently. I really appreciate your thorough list of all the different foods to incorporate regularly in our diet. I’ve pinned to keep it for reference ๐Ÿ™‚

  114. This is Great! A lot of really helpful info! Iโ€™m new to your blog so maybe you already have something like this but do you know what some of the signs of an unhealthy gut are?

    1. Bloating, bad breath, sugar cravings, mood swings, anxiety, depression, skin problems, diabetes and fatigue are signs. If you’re worried you should speak to your Doctor x

  115. Love this post! I have struggled with stomach issues my whole life! I’ve been eating mostly glutenfree/ acid-free for the last couple years and am seeing improvements but I love the lists you have here for foods to be eating!!

  116. Really great content. I’ve been recently reading up on subjects like these. I feel like your post got every key point down and organized in a easy to read and sort way. ACV I’ve heard is bad on your stomach…is that true? Is that something you take minimal?

    1. Hi Dani, thanks for that. Well in fact ACV is good to take diluted daily but if you have acid reflux speak to your doctor about it or if you have a stomach ulcer you can’t take it at all.

  117. I love that you list natural ways to get good bacteria. I have been on antibiotics for several years due to chronic sinus infections and am always looking for ways (on top of an a probiotic) to reverse the damage that has been done.

    1. Thanks Rachel, yeah I do believe the natural route is best. Have a chat with your health care provider about it and see with them

  118. The health of our guts makes a massive difference to our health overall. I make sure my children have probiotics and a very varied diet and despite all the bugs at school they have not had a single sick day for over 2 years.

  119. I have an autoimmune thyroid disease and am always looking for ways to improve my gut health. Thanks for the great info!

    1. Love the lavender I use it in my aromatherapy, its so relaxing and smells amazing. Perfect for bedtime, thanks for the feedback ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. The blue bottles are so pretty and they look fab on your sink/counter top. A great brand to try and you will never look back after going to natural products I highly recommend it ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. There are so many amazing products in the range, too many to list! Love this brand so much ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Glad to introduce you to this brand, I love it! Very affordable for such high quality and established range with the very best ingredients!

    1. This is a fab brand and you can see with all the awards and certification they are high quality. Best of look on your natural skin care journey!

    1. Definitely, once you’re getting your vegetables you are getting the proper nutrients, its important

  120. wait, barbecued foods are bad? i’ve always thought grilled chicken was a healthy alternative to cooking it on the stove. unless you actually meant using barbecue sauce which i don’t have a problem with anyway because i don’t like it.

    1. Hi Chantel, no it is because burnt food is carcinogenic. Grilled chicken on an oven grill is fine

  121. Avocados is one of my favorite things to eat! I remember years ago, trying dark chocolate and wishing it tasted like milk chocolate …now I prefer dark chocolate!

  122. There was an important sentence I picked up on in your post! The power of the media! We are constantly told what to eat and what not to eat which seems to change quite frequently.Sometimes I wonder….but I guess the key is always a balanced healthy diet. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Absolutely, we all know that eating natural foods such as organic fruit and veg are the best options. We don’t need adverts for 98% fat free to show us the way, thank you for your comment, I have to laugh at the special k ad lol

  123. Wow! This is a great article and very insightful and helpful! I know many of us have issues with eating healthy and I know these tips will definitely help us out!

    1. Thanks Erin, glad you like the article and happy to help. We are all dealing with the same issues x

  124. Thanks Ciara for the great article! I am battling food addictions right now. My downfall isnโ€™t craving sweets, but too much meat and bread and fast food. Working on it!

    1. Hi Patti, same here! I would love to give up meat but having a hard time with it. I gave up bread but have it from time to time, I mainly buy wraps now. Fast food as a treat now and then is normal but regular consumption is unhealthy as we all know!

  125. Nice. I definitely want to give this a try as I crave for sweets constantly and making sure my blood sugar stays under control. I am sure I can include this in my popular waffle recipe.

    1. Glad you like it, I canโ€™t take credit for the recipes but they are definitely yummy. Hope u enjoy!

  126. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to buckwheat, however you have definitely piqued my interest! I want to try those pancakes!

  127. I love buckwheat pancakes, but I don’t have recipes to make buckwheat breads and other foods. So this is a great post! I was just diagnosed with diabetes, so buckwheat is a food I need to incorporate more of in my eating plan!

  128. Awesome post! I had no idea about this powder! I guess what they say is true “live more, learn more” i learned something new today thanks and keep em coming!

    1. Yeah I had never heard of it before myself so I was amazed how effective and healthy it is! Glad to have found it

  129. I knew Moringa was good for us but I had no idea of ALL the benefits! Looks like something worse introducing to our diet!

    1. Sure is a brilliant supplement with so many great benefits. Definitely worth taking

    1. Yeah I hadnโ€™t heard of it at all until recently I canโ€™t wait to try it out

  130. Wow this is so detailed! Thank you so much for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚ I have mainly used jojoba for my legs and in hair oils, but may branch out a bit more now

    1. Hi Bryanna, I was sceptical if one oil having so many benefits but it really is a wonder product. Wouldnโ€™t be without it!

  131. this sounds so good!! I love when I find a product that is all natural AND doesn’t break bank – will keep an eye out for this one as I would love to try the DIY body wrap you mentioned ๐Ÿ™‚

  132. This sounds relaxing! … I love the exfoliating factors in these products! when my skin feels smooth and refreshed after is the best!

    1. Clay are the best type of masks for me, I’m happy to have a good natural one. Sticking with this!

  133. I have never heard of this product either. It has some awesome benefits. I am all for anything that that purifies and detoxes. It totally reminds me of my fave Indian Healing Clay. Will definitely be giving this one a try.

    1. Practice makes perfect, like everything. I still have to work on it all the time but it gets better and better as you go on

  134. I love that quote: “If you stumble, make it part of the dance.” My mom just messaged me something about life not being a dress rehearsal. Simple steps can make it a positive experience even if you mess up along the way.

    1. Cool, that’s it, you just give it your best shot and be positive for the best outcome ๐Ÿ™‚

  135. Negative self talk is awful and can totally take you from feeling great to feeling worthless! Practice makes perfect at overcoming it.

    1. Hi Kelsey, that is so true, we need to give ourselves a good pep talk instead of bashing our self confidence

  136. Oh, I needed to learn about the hair conditioning mask. My hair is awful from getting highlights. Thanks so much for sharing these ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Cool, hope you like it. It gives a good protein boost from the eggs and the castor oil helps with hair growth and volume. You need to wash it out completely because of the egg so make sure to get a good amount of shampoo into it after.

  137. I love all the tips you have given us. I was actually looking for something like this. I was looking for a way to see what staple people have at home that help keep their budget low but always have on hand something that is healthy instead of resorting to takeaway or fried food. Thank you for this wonderful post.

  138. I really loved this post! I’ve been trying to incorporate healthier foods into my diet, however, after a week I “run out of ideas.” The pyramid, photos, recipes and your general shopping list really helped me out so much! Thank you.

    1. Hi Samantha, that is great to hear, I’m so glad to be of help! Thanks for your comment ๐Ÿ™‚

  139. I firmly believe in the power of positive thoughts. That, and a lot of prayer got me through the pain of my parentsโ€™ Illnesses and deaths. Itโ€™s what kept me going. Great readโ€™

    1. Hi Nicole, sure does. Once the habit is formed its easy but making it a habit is the hard bit!

  140. Great post. I definitely believe in the power of the mind and our words. People underestimate the power of the tongue but it really does manifest into your life.

    1. That is true. I should practice my positive affirmations out loud to see if I get better results! Thanks for your insight ๐Ÿ™‚

  141. Thinking negatively breeds negativity and unhappiness, something that I definitely need to work on. I like the idea of starting everyday with a happy mantra.

    1. So true Amber, try those positive affirmations every morning and also before bed and see the difference ๐Ÿ™‚

  142. I think it’s so important to realize that we do control our own attitudes! I am naturally a happy person, but in the tougher times of life, i challenge myself to not let circumstances influence my reactions–and that makes all the difference!

  143. Thank you for this thorough review. I try to keep up with what ingredients to avoid, so this is really helpful.

  144. Several adults I know, including my husband, have ADHD and they all do better when preservatives and high fructose corn syrup are cut out of their lives! Great research.

  145. This article was very insightful! I had no idea about this chemical. There are so many things to beware of these days.

    1. Hi Denisha, I was shocked to find out about it, especially being in baby care products! Thanks for your comment

  146. That’s terrible that they are putting such a severe chemical in teething gel! Thanks for letting me know about this.

    1. Hi Natalie, it is a scary thought. There should be a law against it! Cheers

    1. Yeah it sure is, I was so shocked and you would never expect to find it in baby care products. Thanks

  147. I am getting so much more interested in skincare so I loved reading your post! I absolutely love serums because they feel like they moisturise my skin way better than normal creams! Will have to check this brand out!

    1. Hey, thanks for saying so, glad you enjoyed the post. I am loving both products and seeing fab results. I will be trying more from the range no doubt so stay tuned!

  148. I’ve honestly never heard of this brand but I think I would love it! My skin can be rather fussy with what I use but this seems ideal! Thanks for your insights ๐Ÿ™‚ I appreciate the honest opinion and thoughts! I will definitely get my hands on these goodies!

    1. Hi Veronica, glad to introduce to this amazing brand. My skin has never been better!

  149. I’ve never heard of Facetheory, but I have sensitive skin as well, so these reviews are super promising! I’m always looking for new skin care products, and hearing that the 2% retinol in the serum didn’t irritate your skin is amazing!

    1. Hi Shannon, yeah I was apprehensive about using retinol again as I had previously disliked it. I was so happy to find a natural brand and delighted to see it didn’t irritate or dry out my skin. The opposite! Love it ๐Ÿ™‚

  150. I am a big fan of glycolic acid. I don’t like face scrubs because the crystals irritate my skin and (i think) deepens my acne scars. So an exfoliator like this is a perfect way to remove dead skin, brighten your skin and allow your moisturizers to seep in. I haven’t heard of facetheory but it does resemble a product I already use.

    1. Hi Angela, yeah this product is wonderful because it isn’t harsh but exfoliates really well. I can’t fault it!

  151. I love getting input on natural beauty products! Thank you for the insights. And the reminder that I have to restock castor and jojoba oil. ๐Ÿ™‚ I use those mainly for my hair..

    1. Thanks! Yeah same here but jojoba is a great facial oil too, I love it!

  152. Thanks for the review! I am always looking for makeup thhats gentle on skin and just got into mineral makeup. This looks like a great find.

    1. Ah thanks Liz, that is great news, glad you like the review. Best of luck with the mineral makeup, it is the way to go! At leat it is good for the skin ๐Ÿ˜‰

  153. This sounds like a great product. I have the same type of skin as you, so good to know that a setting powder would be recommended. I also love that it includes SPF, a definite must for me!

    1. Hi Laura, glad to be of assistance, I have been having a hard time finding a good full coverage mineral foundation. The fact that it has a HIGH SPF is just perfect for us ๐Ÿ˜‰

  154. Take it from a 50plus year old: always wear your sunscreen! Youโ€™ll be glad you did! This sounds like a great B.B. cream.

  155. I am really interested in trying this bb cream and powder. I prefer bb and cc creams than foundations and yeah something that is good for your skin. Thanks for review I will be sure to check this out!

    1. Hi Stacey, thanks for your comment, it is definitely one of the better ones on the market!

  156. I have such a love/hate with the 5:2 but like you, increasing the calories to 800 and pairing it with the Mediterranean diet…Idk I think I could seriously make that a lifestyle…Thank you so much for your post!

    1. Hi Beth, it is so much easier to stick to now yeah! I was thinking the same for a while but delighted with this new 5:2 ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Cristina, I heard of it only recently myself as it has become really popular as a facial product. You can also apply it topically but it is great of health in general so I’m making the most of it by taking the supplement!

  157. It can’t be that easy to make yogurt at home can it?
I’m definitely going to be looking into buying one.

Look forward to more yogurt recipes from you

    1. Hi, yeah this both of these products are fab. The CeraQuench is especially hydrating.

  158. I’ve never used this product, I’m not a huge fan product kind of person but this sound like it’s really helping out your skin!

    1. Hi Michelle, im not a product addict at all but these are really working well for me! Thanks for your comment ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Lesley, yeah this one is really brilliant. Love it. The other is a ceramide cream, like a moisturiser ๐Ÿ˜‰

  159. Iโ€™m so glad youโ€™ve found a regimen thatโ€™s working so well for you! Iโ€™m always looking for face masks so Iโ€™ll definitely keep this brand in mind!

  160. All of these recipes are amazing – I do believe I would try and eat everything you just talked about. The breakfast options are fab – I always struggle with breakfast time and tend to end up skipping it all together, but your breakfast ideas there seem so quick and easy. Also, your sweet potato fries with avocado dip gave me a real craving for it right now!

    1. Hi Cheryl, I’m so glad you like the selection. I love eating breakfast, I can’t go without it! It really kickstarts your metabolism for the day. I usually have a busy morning but these are very quick to do. I just put my whipped eggs in the microwave to save time too. The sweet potato fries are so yummy. Just throw some avocado in the blender and add some salt n pepper with a dash of olive oil and water or ACV for the dip!

  161. Very informative and inspiring! I have a lot of those symptoms so I will take a second look and think about doing something like this.

    1. Hi Darlene, it is worth doing for sure. Thanks for your feedback! Let me know how it goes for you if you try it.

    1. Aww, glad you like the post. Hope these tips work for you as well as they have for me!

  162. These are great tips! I love the idea of starting a new hobby! I might just sign up for a knitting class because I’ve always wanted to learn! Thanks for the awesome post ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Elaine, knitting is one of the most therapeutic, relaxing and satisfying crafts! The class would be a nice social hobby too. Best of luck and lets know how it goes for you if u do

  163. #9 is one I’m really trying to work on. It can be hard as a mom of 2 young kids to keep up those connections with others, but those connections really are a large contributor to happiness.

    1. Hi Veronika, I hear you. I have 2 under 3 at home so it is really hard to arrange socialising but when you do you really enjoy it. Sometimes being around the kids all day with no adult company can get stressful! Try and arrange a coffee morning or a play date at the park. I am setting up a mother n baby group for the summer hols. You will be happy to know other mums r all in the same boat!

  164. Love the idea about finding a craft or hobby! I also really need to get better about putting my phone away before bed!

    1. Hi Lara, yeah I recently started colouring in again which I haven’t done since I was a child and find it extremely therapeutic! My adult colouring book is a great distraction from the phone. Cheers

  165. For me, the Mediterranean diet is one of the more balanced types of diet and it is indeed the best for the long run. I love the fact that you took the time to share with us, some of your healthy recipes as well. Thank you so much and have a nice day.

    1. Hi Katty, thanks for your wonderful feedback. Glad you liked the post! Have a fab day x

  166. Relaxation is my enemy – somedays! I love staying busy and my body has a way of telling me to “chill out.” During the summer is the only real time I have to relax because I’m off work. I have the occasional weekend relaxation break on the weekends during the year, but not often enough. Your tips are helpful. I especially like the one about unplugging. As a blogger, it’s important to spend time away from my phone and my laptop. Admittedly, I have withdrawal. I’m working on it though.

    1. Hi Natasha, thanks for your feedback. I believe our bodies tell us when we need something so yes, try to incorporate a relaxing time regularly and put the phone away. Turn it off you need to. It is hard but you will notice the relaxation immediately.

    1. Hi Sara, it really is fantastic! Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the post ๐Ÿ™‚

  167. Lavender is one of my favorites! After my pregnancy I’d like to get some lavender infused jewelry–those pics are so pretty!

    1. Ah you will love it, so relaxing and smells fab. Defo try out the jewellery it’s so pretty and practical !

  168. I love everything lavendar! This was a great, detailed post. The bath blend and facial treatment are two things I look forward to trying!

    1. Hi Kayla, thanks for your comment. Both are so therapeutic, really relaxing. Enjoy!

  169. I love my lavender oil and Iโ€™d be lost without it! I add a few drops to my bath water and on the bottom of my feet before bedtime.

    1. Hi Leslie, it is very relaxing isn’t it? That is an interesting way to apply the lavender oil, must try it

  170. I need the jewelry. Lavender is the ONLY scent I use in my home! It’s refreshing to come home to that scent. Once I shower, I’m immediately calmed. However, I was unaware it could be used in the hair and feet. I’m going to soak my feet tonight in lavender.

    1. Hi Natasha, that is really cool, I’m glad to pass on the tips! I also need to buy some of the jewellery! Love it…

  171. Wow so many great suggestions in this post! I love using lavender essential oil for a variety of uses, but I have little experience with the actual plant other than dried sachets in my sock drawer. Thanks for all these terrific ideas – I want to plant lavender in my backyard and now have lots of ways to use it : )

    1. Hey, that is great! You will have bees in your garden in summer then ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Cool, I didnโ€™t know it wards off mosquitoes too. Must add that to the post. Thanks!

    1. Cool, thanks for your comment. Be sure to pass on the info to any curly girl friends who may benefit. Cheers!

    1. Hi Nicole, it is high maintenance but when treated with care the results really are beautiful! Thanks

  172. This is fantastic timing! My 12 year old daughter has beautiful curly hair and I have no idea how to help her with it as mine is 100% straight. She has just started caring about how her hair looks and I am failing a bit with the curls! Thanks so much for the tips!

    1. Hi April, delighted this article helps, I’m sure she will be glad to find these tips at a young age. Best of luck with it and I also recommend a curly hair subscription box called Curls Allowed which does CG boxes regularly !

  173. This is so helpful!! Thank you!! I am finding that the older I get the curlier my hair gets. I’ve heard of the Curl Girl Method but never really looked into it. This really breaks it down well! Thanks again!

    1. Hi Sarah, glad you like the article, it is all the steps I took to find the best results at last. It took a lot of research, trial and error so hopefully it helps others in an easy to follow way! Cheers

  174. This is a great post! The only way I get my natural curls to come through is with an awesome all natural product called Monat. Getting your curls to come out are awesome but they can be so stubborn!

    1. Hi Brooke, I have ordered a sample of that today haha! Looking forward to trying it. Cheers

    1. Hi Amy, I didn’t seem to have a problem letting go of the shampoo. I use a good quality natural conditioner and massage it into my scalp so it works as well as a shampoo. I wash my hair every day and it never gets greasy. If you are having a big problem with the no poo method just find a good quality natural shampoo such as John Masters Organic or similar. Good luck!

  175. Love this! My hair is business in the front (#1) and a party in the back (#2c) LOL! I’ve been trying to get the all over natural curl for years with no success so I need to try out your tips!

  176. I think the importance of #9 has to do with the timing of our ambitions and desires. There has to be clear-cut lines drawn on the ground for when it’s time to work and when it’s time to enjoy ourselves.

I’m a rather industrious individual. I used to feel terrible for not working, especially when I am around the Love of my life. I’ve since changed that, and I suddenly feel much better for when I do take a break.

The problem I had was not having a strict schedule to follow and not separating work from other parts of my life. When this happened, the idea of work and success started to leak into other parts of my life and made me aggressive in the wrong manner.

Thank you for this post! I certainly needed to pick my own brain with what you’ve written, Ciara.

    1. Hi Brian, thanks for your comment and insight. I know it is difficult sometimes when it comes to separating work and home life as well as “time off” or even time to yourself. Im glad to hear you found what works for you as it is so important to have that work/life balance. Success is measured in terms of both so that is the way to think about it. Glad you liked the post ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thanks Brian, I agree, forming the habit is the first hurdle and sticking to it is paramount to success. I always try for a minimum of 8 hours and my body almost demands it now. Knowing your body clock is important to creating the right sleep pattern. Cheers

  177. I recently got a diffuser and lavender is always the first thing I reach for when I’m feeling anxious. I love some of these other ideas though, I definitely want to give a few of these a try!

    1. Hi Hannah, lavender is my fave for sure. So relaxing. Hope you enjoy these alternative uses ๐Ÿ™‚

  178. This is amazing! I will never support beauty and self care products that test on animals and I also like to be considerate about what I put on my skin.

I avoid beauty boxes because I can’t typically stick to my standards and can’t be sure what I’ll get or what I’m supporting. But goodness this box is perfect! I wish they had them in Canada too. Thanks for sharing!

  179. I love that foot pumice scrub. That would be a great gift too. Of course, I’d need to try it out for myself first. Lovely post, I like the sound of all of these products.

    1. Hi Wendy, I love using the pumice foot scrub, I finally feel like I’m giving my neglected feet some TLC! I loved all the products.

    1. Hi Cassie, it sure is, same here. We all have to be careful what we put on our skin these days. Thanks

  180. This is a great article! I had never thought about decorating in these terms before. I will take you up on your suggestion for a self-care area in my home. Love that idea!

  181. I’ve upped the number of plants that I have in the house recently. It started because I wanted the air purification benefits of them, but then I fell in love with them. Not only are they good for my living space, but I find it calming to care for them and it’s something I look forward to now.

  182. Oh, wow! I LOVE all the tips you’ve shared – this is like the ultimate feel-good post! I’m a huge fan of decluttering – my mind stops working when there’s too much noise around me. I’m also a believer in nourishing foods because they have an impact not only on our bodies but the way we feel and our productivity levels as well.

  183. De-cluttering has been my main focus since we moved into our home 2 years ago. Moving and unpacking really made it clear to me all the extra โ€œstuffโ€ we had and didnโ€™t need. Clearing out has made my life so much easier.

    1. Moving house is the perfect opportunity to purge. I bet you’re glad you de-cluttered now!

  184. we moved into our house about 2 weeks ago and have been renovating ever since. I can’t wait to get to a point where I can unclutter and just feel more at peace.

  185. I love changing up my accessories with the seasons. Having cushions, candles and lots of photos are really important to me too. I also believe in having a sanctuary of some kind. Whether it’s a whole room, a cosy corner or your favourite chair, having somewhere to retreat can make all the difference in your own wellbeing. For me it’s my office. It’s my own little corner of the home that’s calming and pretty. I have my desk, a sofa and all of my favourite books…and it’s always tidy too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hi Sarah, I agree completely. You sound like you have it sorted anyway and I bet you’re feeling the autumn vibes coming now.

  186. Clutter is my biggest downfall and I am working so hard on kicking it. I agree, it is so important to declutter for relaxation.

    1. Yes! It is very hard to de-clutter and keep it that way! So very important to cut back on useless things and choose carefully.

  187. When we moved recently i decided i was starting over i got rid of everything that was not important and started fresh my life seems so much more peaceful with a minimal lifestyle

    1. I love when you get a clean fresh start! Minimising means less clutter and also less cleaning! Hope you’re enjoying your new home ๐Ÿ™‚

  188. I’m really interested in having a go at this. I was talking to another guy and he was saying to just try and do the fasting without changing what you eat to see how you go….. best of luck

    1. Hi Ellen, thanks for your comment. Let me know how it goes if you try it! It is a great health choice

    2. Thanks, it is a bit hard to stick to at first but no I’m used to it and the weight is falling off!

  189. I’ve always been curious about this. I think I’ll give it a try, fasting while sleeping and eating breakfast later in the day sounds doable.

    1. Hi Liz, yeah it is so much easier in terms of willpower than fasting all during the day. Hope it goes well for u. Do let me know! Good luck, cheers!

    2. Hi Liz, it is a lot easier than fasting throughout the day – way less willpower involved!

  190. This is quite impressive! Good to know the benefits of this oil. I’ve never tried it. I guess with this post I can recommend it to a friend ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Hi Roseline, it is a serum with a milky texture rather than an oil but it is a wonder product so defo recommend!! Thanks

  191. I have always been good about natural products for my hair and body. But I only recently started to change over to the face skin care products. So this is on my must try list now!

  192. Thank you for such an honest and thorough review! I’m much of the same with acne struggles due to stress lasting into my 20s. I’ve never actually heard of this brand before but love that it’s natural!

    1. Yeah it can be a long and laborious journey but when u find the right ones, its brilliant!

  193. I loved these. I also heard that the flex seed oil is great for hair to thicken them and make them more lustrous. It’s good for the scalp and makes hair grow healthier. Thank you for sharing!

  194. That chocolate bar face soap just makes me smile. This would make a wonderful gift and love the cruelty free, very important.

  195. Wow! These beauty products look great! The chocolate bar is great gift idea for friends (not kids tho, they might eat it haha)!

  196. This looks amazing, I love the fact that they are cruelty free. Also that chocolate bar looks good enought to eat (hahahaha). I will need to check out their site and see if the ship to Cyprus!

    D, xo

  197. Now this I have to go out and find to use. All natural plus I have never heard of a stone before.

    1. Hi Candy, yeah I hadn’t seen one in years. They are surely available online but do check out your local health store in case.

  198. I love natural deodorant I have been using them for a couple years now and I love the result no irritation and it takes care of business that stone looks interesting definitely worth looking into, thank you for sharing this post

    1. Thanks, you should definitely give it a go. So handy and its ideal for travelling with too.

  199. I have been trying to switch to more natural beauty products in the last couple of years. I have not tried the Acure brightening scrub, but will have to look for it – it sounds great!

  200. ยฃ20 really isn’t bad for all you got. I’m seriously considering picking up one in the future.

Thank you for this. My purse won’t thank you but I sure as hell will ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Petra, I love the box too and this months was incredible! Fantastic selection and epic value x

    1. Hi Bryanna, it really is a luxurious little pamper product. You can always try the sample size on their site but I love it x

  201. This post was great! I struggle with knowing what products to use and how to use them. I also struggle with motivation at the end of a long day to spend time doing a night routine. So impressive that you do this every day!

    1. Hi Amy, I was the same for so long! I just really enjoy these lovely rituals now and I think it is a real self care pick-me-up. Especially when you see the results. U should check out the Lyonsleaf balm it is a one product does all type balm. Takes around 2mins tops if you haven’t got time x

    1. Hi Kelly, thanks a mil, glad you like the post. I love this lot, they are all working fab x

    1. Hi Crystal, thats cool, the jade roller is a lovely self care routine. I love it!

  202. Love these! I recently switched over to more of a “clean” routine because I struggle with rosacea and it has really helped!

    1. Hi Leah, that is good to know. I have Rosacea in my family and sometimes used to get redness too. I hardly ever get skin redness anymore since switching to natural products!

  203. Hey !

First of all, love your reviews girl ๐Ÿ™‚

I just wanted to ask. When it comes to this sunscreen balm, I have combination skin, just like you, and it tends to be REALLY oily in the summer, will this sunscreen really work for me. I don’t like to look shiny. I know that some people don’t mind it….

Also I have a pretty moisturising moisturiser, I don’t use drying or mattifying products, won’t it be too much if I had this sunscreen on top ?
I also don’t wear foundation or powder so, just wondering !

    1. Hi Camara, thanks so much for your kind words. Delighted you like my reviews. To be honest, I haven’t tried the balm without makeup. I wear foundation and powder every day unless Im staying at home. I wouldn’t really say this would be matte without the powder to set it. Unfortunately most sunscreens have a sheen as its a protective barrier but you could check out the mattifying types. Hope this helps!

  204. Thank you for this great post! I would love to try this after reading about your experience! I would be afraid it would be way to heavy but good to know itโ€™s surprisingly light!

    1. Hi Briana, yeah I was very wary of the consistency but it is so light and easy to apply. I really like it because it doesn’t clog pores and doesn’t give me oily skin under makeup.

    1. Hi Crystal, that is so true. It is literally the most important thing for our skin!

  205. I am such a huge fan of natural products when it comes to skin, hair and body care. I don’t know why, but I always hesitate to use a sun screen on my skin. I loved this review, and this sunscreen looks safe to use. I would love to try sometime soon.

    1. Hi! I understand you were hesitant as some of the sunscreens contain a lot of manmade chemicals and silicones. The natural ones are gentler for sure. Give it a try!

  206. Hi Ciara, I’m the chemist who developed this product. My only comment is a word of warning: if you want to transfer it to another container, you’d be better off putting it in a small glass, aluminium or polypropylene jar, as coco-caprylate (the major component of the product) has a nasty tendency to threadlock, etch, and eventually crack hard/brittle plastic jars like the one in the photo. I speak from bitter experience!

  207. That’s an interesting product, never came across anything like that before and I’ve tried many sunscreens. It’s good that it doesn’t leave any whiteness which is something many people have issues with when using other natural sunscreens. It would be good to know how it performs in a very hot climate.

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment! Yeah the white cast is definitely a concern with sunscreen but no worries here! We advent had any scorching weather to test it to the max yet. Will report back during summer but so far so good ๐Ÿ™‚

  208. Such an excellent post. Congratulations on being sober and sticking with it. You are so, so, so strong. I too have recently made a vow of cutting down on my drinking. As I am in recovery for anorexia nervosa it only seemed the right thing to do, to stop masking the emotions I’m trying to hide.

    Thank you for sharing.

    – Nyxie

  209. You had me at Ireland. My grandfather was born there before immigrating to the USA. That said…I am 63 and in my lifetime we have gone from always having reusable containers ie: returnable soda bottles, milk was delivered in reusable glass bottles, actual glass drinking glasses, home cooked meals and no fastfood at all near where I was raise (S.F. Bay Area, California) the TV dinners came in reusable foil containers, which my mom refilled with leftover turkey dinner… My folks were raised in the Great Depression and they were taught to reuse everything, and we did. Since throw aways are fairly new it seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to go back to reusables.

    1. Hi Mary, thanks for your comment. If only we had followed in your footsteps, it is sad to see the plastic consumption and devastation our generation has caused. Hard to believe. At least we can start taking a step in the right direction x

  210. This looks like an amazing opportunity! The building looks like it has amazing potential, je trouve c’est magnifique! I wish you all the luck with this venture!

  211. I had never heard of retinol moisturizer before, so I really appreciate your in-depth review. Sounds like a fabulous product!
