Facetheory Natural Retinol and Glycolic Acid Review

RETINOL AND GLYCOLIC ACID CLEANSER BY FACETHEORY

I happened to discover Facetheory products a few weeks ago and oh my God, I just have to say I am the happiest I have been in a very long time (perhaps forever!) with them. Here is my Facetheory natural retinol and glycolic acid review. Phew, very excited about these products and I haven’t done a review in a while now because I only believe in bringing you my best quality and top level faves. Here goes…

I have to say I was pretty sceptical about the retinol (pure vitamin A) as I had used it in my 20’s after being prescribed it by a dermatologist. The product I tried was a prescribed Retin-A. It originally made my skin peel and left me with redness so I discontinued use. I was told that was normal and continue on but I just couldn’t stand it so decided to try other methods.

I have been reading a lot of great reports about retinol for slowing down the formation of wrinkles and visibly diminishing the appearance of wrinkles. It improves overall skin tone and softens the skin.

I have really noticed a difference in the smoothness and general condition of my skin since using Facetheory natural retinol in conjunction with their glycolic acid. I read up on how best to apply both before commencing the routine. I have used glycolic acid in the past and was really impressed with the reduction in red marks on my face and clearer complexion.

I read online that you should use the glycolic acid in the morning and then the retinol at night for best results. Reason being, the retinol makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. Glycolic acid also makes your skin more sensitive to the suns rays so you still need to wear a minimum of factor 30 during the day. You shouldn’t use both at the same time by the way.

I always wear a good quality sunscreen so that was no hassle for me to incorporate into my routine. The retinol comes in a dark glass drop dispenser bottle to stop the retinol being exposed to light. This preserves the quality and keeps it fresh. I was surprised that the consistency is milky white but it goes on nicely and it doesn’t dry out your skin at all.

I was delighted with the improvement of my skin after the first night of use so that is really saying something! I used the Facetheory glycolic acid cleanser to wash m face the next morning and used my SPF30 moisturiser before applying my makeup. My skin looked more even, smooth and even had a lovely dewy glow!

RETINOL ON HAND

It is a clinical strength 2% retinol so I was initially worried my skin would react badly, as it is often sensitive. I have had nothing but good reaction from it since my first use. I have even noticed a reduction in red marks and pigmentation from the sun. Retinol is anti-ageing and has antioxidant properties.

I have a lot of red acne scars from years of having problem skin and hormonal spots. I was naturally over the moon to see those fading, even if it is only a little. I am so excited to see what the long term benefits of using the retinol and glycolic acid as it has been amazing so far. I will show some photos once I have been using these products for a few months so stay tuned or subscribe for that! I haven’t had so much hope for improving my red marks and pigmentation for a long time.

Now that my hormonal spots are under control I am ready too start focusing on the anti-ageing end of things. Retinol is highly recommended by dermatologists as the best product for slowing down the skins ageing process.

Dill extract to regenerate elastin and liquorice extract help reduce dark spots, acne scars and hyperpigmentation. So far it is going well! Vitamin C is a fantastic anti-oxidant found in the Facetheory retinol also so it is all the best ingredients in one bottle really! Ferulic acid and vitamin E help to keep it stable.

RETINOL SERUM BY FACETHEORY BOTTLE

Retinol helps regenerate collagen so it gives your skin a helping hand as you get older and start producing less. The best part is, it is natural, vegan, paraben-free, with no sillicates, polyethylene glycols (PEGS) or mineral oils. Facetheory is not tested on animals.

I am already in love with the brand! I decided to go ahead and buy Facethory’s best-selling glycolic acid exfoliating cleanser. It is a gentle exfoliating cleanser with glycolic acid, salicylic acid and willow bark extract. It also has apricot kernel oil and sweet almond oil and comes in a naturally scented mandarin essential oil scent or else unscented. I chose unscented but next time I will try the scented cos it sounds lovely.

GLYCOLIC FACIAL SCRUB

It is a lovely consistency and has tiny pieces of pumice which are natural and gentle for exfoliating. Glycolic exfoliating face scrub E1 is a sulphate-free AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser. Willow bark is anti-inflammatory so it is really calming. Again, it is paraben-free and doesn’t contain sillicates, polyethylene glycols (PEGS), SLS, SLES, mineral oils or polluting microbeads and is not tested on animals.

It is light and gentle and ideal for combination/oily skin. My skin is quite prone to redness but this never leaves behind any redness and I have noticed smaller pores so much that my skin is smooth and glowing for the first time in years!

I really think the combination of both of these products is wonderful. Do remember if you try them that you need to use factor 30 sunscreen minimum. I will probably purchase the factor 50 for summer as it gets really hot here in France.

I felt confident when purchasing these as I read on the website there is a 30 day money back guarantee if you’re not completely satisfied. They are obviously 100% confident in their products so that is a big thumbs up.

There are over 4,000 reviews on their site and so many happy customers giving fab reviews. I will be going on there myself, even though it is something I never do, I just have to sing their praises!

I happen to have a coupon code here so if you are buying, you will save 20% OFF >> CODE

    1. Hi Veronica, glad to introduce to this amazing brand. My skin has never been better!

  3. I’ve never heard of Facetheory, but I have sensitive skin as well, so these reviews are super promising! I’m always looking for new skin care products, and hearing that the 2% retinol in the serum didn’t irritate your skin is amazing!

    1. Hi Shannon, yeah I was apprehensive about using retinol again as I had previously disliked it. I was so happy to find a natural brand and delighted to see it didn’t irritate or dry out my skin. The opposite! Love it 🙂

  4. I am a big fan of glycolic acid. I don’t like face scrubs because the crystals irritate my skin and (i think) deepens my acne scars. So an exfoliator like this is a perfect way to remove dead skin, brighten your skin and allow your moisturizers to seep in. I haven’t heard of facetheory but it does resemble a product I already use.

    1. Hi Angela, yeah this product is wonderful because it isn’t harsh but exfoliates really well. I can’t fault it!
