Hi Friends,
Today I am sharing my tried and tested best all natural skincare recipes. I am a huge believer in natural skincare and have been for years since discovering it. I had never been successful in clearing my hormonal spots after many years of trying every lotion and potion on the market (pretty much!). I genuinely believed from following the media that I needed something chemical made in a lab with the latest exotic plant to heal my recurring acne. I had often read about natural methods such as DIY products but always fobbed them off as too gentle to deal with what I considered severe problem skin. What I didn’t realise was that the harsh chemicals were making my sensitive skin worse and actually stripping the natural oils. The process makes your body produce even more oil to replenish it, resulting in more spots and irritation, even skin peeling in some cases.
When I finally tried the natural approach, I realised quickly my skin needed it all along. Within only a few days my skin had cleared noticeably and within a few weeks my skin had never been better! I was at the same time, drinking plenty of water and had cut down immensely on sugar and fried food. I couldn’t believe my luck. After years and years (20+) of spending serious cash on the latest skin products and treatments (including IPL, microdermabrasion and expensive facials) that the answer was lying in my kitchen cupboards all along. Best part about it, the best all natural skincare recipes were easily accessible and incredibly cheap!
I had even done a beauty course where we were taught that natural skincare was best, but stupidly went the other way. I assumed because my skin was ‘problem skin’ that it wouldn’t apply to me. I was always looking for the next gimmick or scientific breakthrough in acne studies (which by the way, in my eyes is all very misleading, considering) but really my skin needed a kinder more gentle approach. Well, the beauty industry is a multi-billion dollar industry so it is easy to get caught up in media hype. TLC was in order and as soon as I realised, I never looked back.
Here are my best all natural skincare recipes for you to try and see for yourself! Don’t be fooled by clever marketing ploys trying to sell you ‘everlasting youth in a jar’ and look back to nature for the real answers. I have mentioned this previously in articles I have wrote on the subject but pretty much all skincare uses natural botanicals and plant extractions so why not experiment with the natural forms and cut out the chemicals? I guarantee you it is better for your skin and health in the long run.
Best All Natural Skincare Recipes –
Pore cleaning blackhead remover, pore minimizer and skin saviour:
What you need:
1 tsp of Natural (organic if possible) honey – Manuka is best
1 sprinkle of cinnamon
1 sprinkle of nutmeg
Instructions:
Mix together in the palm of your hand or a bowl and apply to the t-zone or any areas of clogged/open pores/blackheads.
Leave on as a mask for 10mins. It may tingle at first but it is normal.
If it is irritating, leave on for a shorter time until your skin adapts over time with continual use. It shouldn’t cause redness.
Use a damp cotton pad to remove in outward strokes.
If redness occurs, make sure you are not allergic to any ingredients before continuing use.
Results are immediate or within 30mins.
Over time your pores should be less noticeable and blackheads gone!
Do not use hot water when washing afterwards. Warm/tepid water is best always.
Facial Exfoliator for Baby Soft Skin –
What you need:
1 tsp of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) and Extra Virgin olive oil (good quality organic)
Instructions:
Use a tsp of baking soda and add a little olive oil to make a paste.
If you add too much oil you can always add in more baking soda.
Once your paste is ready, tie your hair back and start applying to a clean face gently.
Avoid the delicate eye and lip area
Make sure to be very gentle as it can be abrasive if used harshly.
Use gentle circular motions and buff lightly for around 2 mins.
When finished, was off gently with warm/tepid water.
Pat your face dry. You will notice the softness immediately.
Leave skin bare for an hour or so for best results, then proceed with the rest of your skincare regime.
This can also be done at night before bed and left until morning.
I love this mask but only use it once a fortnight or whenever my skin needs a good buff.
The skin takes a while to renew and cell-turnover to occur so only once in a while rather than weekly.
It is like an at-home microdermabrasion without the cost!
Soothing and Refreshing Clearing Face Mask –
What you need:
3oz of Aloe Vera
1/2 a small cucumber
Instructions:
Peel and slice the cucumber, then blend in a blender until juice is visible.
Use a strainer/cheesecloth to pour the contents into a clean bowl and strain the juice.
Mix in the aloe vera and whisk until blended well.
Pour into an airtight jar and leave in the fridge.
Use as a mask for a healing, cooling and calming facial.
Castor oil hair conditioning mask –
What you need:
2 Tbsp Castor Oil
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbsp Glycerin
3 eggs beaten
Instructions:
Add ingredients together in a bowl and mix well with a fork.
Heat for 30 seconds in the microwave, then wait until its not too hot and apply to sections of your hair to ensure full coverage.
Then apply to the scalp aswell.
Wrap your hair in a towel. I use cling film but its optional. Leave for 2 to 3 hours for best effects.
Wash well with sulphate-free shampoo and theres no need for conditioner as this works as a conditioner.
Skin Softening Body Exfoliator –
What you need:
Olive oil (Extra virgin)
Sugar
Coconut oil (organic)
Instructions:
Mix together olive oil and sugar until a paste is formed.
Use all over body before shower or bath. Best stand over the shower or bath to avoid mess.
Exfoliate by buffing the skin and massaging for a minute or 2.
Rinse off in the shower or bath, pat skin dry and apply coconut oil afterwards.
Baby soft skin every time! Word to the wise – don’t use chemically shower gels or bath products.
Softening foot scrub –
What you need:
Baking soda
Basin of medium hot water
Peppermint essential oil
Coconut oil
Pumice stone
Clean towel and socks.
Instructions:
Pour a decent amount of baking soda into the prepared basin of hot water.
Test with your feet to make sure the temperature is comfortable.
Add in a few drops of peppermint essential oil.
Soak the feet for as long as you like, massaging regularly with the baking soda.
Once finished, pat the feet dry and start buffing hard skin with the pumice.
Once the hard skin had been tackled, rub in some coconut oil and leave to dry on the towel.
Put on clean socks and expect to see results in a few hours!

Aw thanks, nice of you to say!
Oh, I needed to learn about the hair conditioning mask. My hair is awful from getting highlights. Thanks so much for sharing these 🙂
Cool, hope you like it. It gives a good protein boost from the eggs and the castor oil helps with hair growth and volume. You need to wash it out completely because of the egg so make sure to get a good amount of shampoo into it after.
