Beauty Balm and Bath Bombs – Make your Own!

bath bomb on towel with candle

This Beauty balm is an absolute skin saviour and will make your skin feel so nourished and cleansed. I love the feel of it and the application is a lovely bit of pampering for a tired face. This DIY balm is infused with essential oils and Shea butter to help retain moisture and leave it soft and supple with a healthy glow. It really is a fantastic all-rounder and everyone should have this in their bathroom cupboard. It can be used to exfoliate, cleanse, moisturise, fix cuticles and tame brows. Moroccan Argan oil has wonderful benefits for your skin hair and nails and Rosehip oil improves skin tone and detoxes the skin. It is full of anti-oxidants and when all of these are put together they work as a superb skin reviver. This recipe is from the Beauty Book by NYRO. Here is a link if you are interested in purchasing the book.

Next up is a fun little project that even the kids can get involved with and can be a great fun idea to do, whatever your age. I basically love these fizzy bath bombs and they’re so easy to make. They smell gorgeous and are a lovely way to relax and unwind, feeling like a primped princess after a hard day. A nice long soak in the bath is made like a trip to the spa – without the hefty price tag. Plus if you have kids, this will make bath time a real joy and no hassle getting them into the bath once you are armed with a bath bomb! I chose the mandarin as I’m a huge citrus fan but I will be adding more in the following weeks so stay tuned. The best part is, they are completely non-toxic and you can even add cosmetic glitter, which is also non-toxic. Do make sure not to use craft glitter though as that is not suitable. The kids really love that but the adults may prefer some nice dried orange peel or rose petals. You can really use your imagination with these so any dried flowers or herbs that you like can be used for effect. Also do make sure you use certified organic oils. They are available for purchase in my online shop here.

Here is what you need to make 20 small bath bombs:

A LARGE BOWL

PROTECTIVE GLOVES

AN ATOMIZER SPRAY BOTTLE

MOULDS IN THE SHAPE OF CAKE POPS

INGREDIENTS:

400 G OF SODIUM BICARBONATE/BAKING SODA

200 G OF CITRIC ACID

1 TSP OF DRIED FLOWERS/ORANGE PEEL/COSMETIC GLITTER

15 DROPS OF MANDARIN ESSENTIAL OIL

DIRECTIONS:

1 PUT ON THE GLOVES. PLACE ALL DRY INGREDIENTS IN A BOWL AND MIX WELL WITH YOUR HANDS.

2 ADD THE ESSENTIAL OIL TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS AND MIX WELL

3 POUR 1-2 TSP OF WATER INTO THE ATOMIZER SPRAY BOTTLE AND BEGIN SPRAYING THE MIXTURE WITH THE WATER WHILE BINDING IT TOGETHER WITH YOUR FINGERS

4 CONTINUE SPRAYING AND BINDING UNTIL THE MIXTURE RESEMBLES DRY SAND

5 ONCE IT HAS STOPPED FIZZING, IT IS READY AND IF IT IS DRY AND CRUMBLY, JUST ADD A LITTLE MORE WATER

6  FIRMLY PRESS THE MIXTURE INTO THE MOULDS; ALLOW TO SET IN THE FRIDGE FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR.

7 ONCE SET, SPRINKLE WATER ON ONE TRAY AND TURN OUT ONE SET OF HALVES

8 ADD THE SET TO THE OTHER TRAY OF HALVES TO FORM BALL SHAPES

HEY PRESTO!

All you have to do is drop them in the bath and watch them fizz up leaving a gorgeous aroma to fill the room.

They are ready to be used and enjoyed any time. These can also make lovely presents for people and you could wrap them up in a nice bag with a bow for a cute gift.

Hope you enjoy making and using these and please do let me know how you get on!!

Lots of love,

Ciara xxx
