Virginic Body Butter and Hydrating Night Cream Review

Virginic hydrating body butter and night cream in boxes

Hi Beauties,

Today I am reviewing the Virginic body butter and hydrating night cream. I was gifted these two natural skincare products in exchange for an honest review. The packaging is really lovely and the companies ethics and ingredients are ticking all my boxes.

All products from Virginic are sourced ethically and sustainably. They are 100% cruelty free, contain zero artificial ingredients and use only the best natural ingredients. They are vegan, contain only natural preservatives and no nasties. There are no synthetic fragrances and all packaging is recyclable. Here is a chart showing you all of their reassuring guarantees –

Naturally I was delighted to receive my goodies in the post. Their customer service was top-notch and so friendly, I was really happy to work with them and frankly, quite flattered. However, my review is 100% honest as always, so here is how I got on –

My first impression of the products was how pretty the packaging is. I do love nice packaging but I never let that sway my judgement since I have made that mistake in the past! I think it is a big bonus if a product has nice packaging though, don’t you? I was happy to display them on a visible shelf in my bathroom!

Virginic body butter and night cream
When I opened the Virginic Creamy Citrus Body Butter (200ml), I smelled the aromatic citrus immediately. I was almost hypnotised by the gorgeous scent. I literally couldn’t wait to apply it. I have to admit, I never once owned a body butter. I was intrigued by the butter-like formulation. I scooped out a little and warmed it in my palms, then applied it as a hand cream. I was drawn to the addictive smell and decided I would use it after my shower.

I wasn’t sure how best to apply it so I went online and checked. Apparently the best way to use a body butter is on damp skin and sparingly. They also suggest using a small spatula which I happened to have. This is not necessary but helps so that the butter doesn’t get under your fingernails. You need to scoop it out so the spatula was handy. I applied it to my skin after patting my body dry instead of towel drying after my shower. That way the skin was still damp. It glided on well and spread easily. The scent is really captivating and almost therapeutic so a big thumbs up for that. Considering it is 100% natural!

You should keep the body butter at room temperature and it lasts 3 months after opening due to the natural plant-based ingredients. This is normal for a lot of 100% pure skincare, I find, unless stated otherwise. It just means you don’t need to use it just for special occasions for instance, you might as well use it all the time. In this case you will probably want to!

Here are the lovely ingredients that make up this luxurious and hydrating body butter –
  • Shea Butter (Eco Cert)
  • Green Coffee Oil
  • Castor Oil
  • Soybean Oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Vitamin E
  • Arrowroot Powder
  • Rose Water (Rosa Damascena Flower Water)
  • Lemongrass Essential Oil
  • Grapefruit Essential Oil

I love the aroma so much that I leave it around where I am working or in the living room so I can apply it as a hand cream during the day! I think for the winter months this is ideal. If you have dry skin then this is perfect. For a deep, hydrating and nourishing skin treat, this is a great go-to product. I can’t get enough of it!

Shea butter and vitamin E are anti-inflammatory so healing for the skin. This body butter aids natural collagen and locks in moisture. You can use it as a calming skin saviour after shaving and it even helps avoid ingrown hairs. On top of that it helps improve skin elasticity.

This body butter is a complete all-rounder! I use it as a lip balm, an eyebrow-tamer, a foot balm (applied as a foot mask with fluffy socks on at bedtime) for a nice pamper and even on the ends of my frizz-prone hair to help tame any split-ends.

I am sure I will end up using the whole tub, which is a generous size. The great thing is that once I finish with the tub I can re-use it to make my own DIY skincare body butters or scrubs. So eco-friendly and useful. I do love a good multi-tasking product. Perfect for the winter months when my skin is dehydrated and always handy to have on hand for any of the above.

Ps this body butter can be used during pregnancy as it is 100% natural and can aid against stretch-marks.

Next up, the Virginic Pure Hydrating Night Cream (50ml). Again, lovely packaging to match the body butter. All the products are branded the same and all Virginic products adhere to their standards mentioned above. A sigh of relief! I love not having to check the ingredients and knowing the product is ethically sourced. Another great reason to choose natural skincare from reputable sources.

The formulation is similar to that of the body butter, interestingly. I use my mini spatula again which is quite pamperish! I cleanse my skin well and pat it dry as before, leaving some moisture to help the butter dissolve easily. I notice if I don’t leave my skin damp, I end up needing more product and it doesn’t sink in as well so keep that in mind. It may not be the same for everyone but I have combination, sometimes oily skin. You only need a small amount and warm it in your palms, then massage it in gently.

Here are the nourishing ingredients in the Virginic Pure Hydrating night cream –

  • Shea Butter (EcoCert)

  • Castor Oil

  • Coconut Oil

  • Hazelnut Oil

  • Rosemary Extract

  • Vitamin E

  • Arrowroot Powder

  • Rose Water (Rosa Damascena Flower Water)

  • Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil

  • Lavender Essential Oil

  • Chamomile Essential Oil

It is best used at night, for its regenerating purposes. It helps replace lost moisture from daily skin stressors. A moisture surge for dry skin. This is meant to be suitable for all skin types and I think in winter I would use it as a night cream. I have oil-prone skin in summer though so this hydrating cream may be a little rich for the summer months. For this reason, I would only use at night also. If you have dry skin, I think this could be a fantastic solution. It is very moisturising and smells divine.

A top tip from their website – “For sensitive, dry, and very dry skin, try adding a few drops jojoba oil to the cream to boost your skin moisture barrier and for a maximum glow.”

So I am really happy with the Virginic Purity Perfected range so far. I hadn’t heard of the brand before and glad I discovered them. I love their ethics and standards and their products are full of healthy, plant-based and nourishing ingredients so I would definitely be keen to try some more of their body care products and oils.

I also love their witty and fun stamped quotes on the inside of the boxes, as seen below!
