Hi Friends,
Today I am reviewing the Coconut Matter eco friendly natural deodorant range. I reached out to Coconut Matter after discovering them via the Ethical Influencers page. I have been on the hunt for an eco friendly natural deodorant forever!
I did a review a while back on the Pierre d’alun natural deodorant stone and have been using mine since I got back from Morocco last November. It lasted the year but I missed the nice fragrance since it has no scent. I was really keen to try out the Coconut Matter deodorants when I spotted them.
They are eco friendly as they are packaged in cardboard and zero waste. They are most importantly safe from toxins and allergens. They are free of aluminium, Triclosan, alcohol, synthetic fragrance, parabens, phthalates and other harsh chemicals often used in standard deodorant.
It is alarming that some deodorants have been linked to hormone disruption and breast cancer. For that reason I am steering well clear of many deodorants I have used in the past. I wrote an article about the dangers of toxins in beauty products a while a go outlining the dangers.
When I contacted Coconut Matter they were so friendly and offered to send me some of their fab eco friendly natural deodorants to review! Needless to say I was chuffed. They sent me four of their Mood deodorants in gorgeous sustainable packaging.
Coconut Matter are an eco enterprise on a mission to reduce plastic waste in our bathroom. Did you know that in 2018 alone, the beauty sector generated over 142 billion units of packaging, most of which ended up in landfill or the ocean.
Unfortunately most people don’t have a recycling bin their bathroom, therefore most cosmetic empties go in the standard waste bin! Only 1 in 5 people recycle toiletries 🙁
My man has recently switched to a natural deodorant, the Pierre d’Alun natural stone since coming back from Morocco but before that he was using a standard anti-perspirant spray with an aerosol which he was replacing every couple of months.
We worked that out as 6 cans of aerosol going in the bin per year. Quite alarming when you think of the impact that has on the environment. Thankfully he has made the switch now and he tried the non-scented one I was sent by Coconut Matter and thought it was great.
Coconut Matter are not only vegan and cruelty-free but they are zero waste! They make everything from scratch with natural ingredients using no plastic, no nasty toxins and their ingredients are sourced ethically via fair trade with sustainability in mind. What’s not to love about that?!
Pals, as if that wasn’t enough, they all smell absolutely beautiful! I am actually quite fussy when it comes to scent but these are all smells that I really adore. They smell subtle but I can definitely notice the scent linger so that is a huge plus point.
Put to the test, I used each deodorant I received in my collection last week and this week and they all work perfectly. It is September here in the sunny south of France so the weather is still pretty warm, like 21°C on average. I work in a fast paced environment, serving at our restaurant so I am on my feet for at least 4 hours a day during service.
I did not feel the need to re-apply my deodorant throughout my busy day. Big thumbs up to that! I think people often shy away from natural deodorants in fear of them not working or having to re-apply them.
I felt super confident using Coconut Matter’s eco friendly natural deodorants and will definitely be sticking with these. They tick all the boxes for me.
Mood deodorants come in four different choices – “Free” (unscented), “Spring” (lavender, geranium, lime), “Hero” (eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary) and “Zen” (cedar wood, bergamot, vetiver). Their newest scent is called “Bliss” (lemongrass, lime and orange scent) but hasn’t been released yet as they are currently seeking funds to produce it over on Kickstarter. If you are interested in backing them click here.
They are 30g/1oz each and are nice and compact, perfect for travelling and carrying in your bag. They are also very lightweight so again, handy. 100% bio-degradable packaging 🙂 Here is a great way to try them – a kit called the pit detox, containing all of the deodorants including a brand new scent – Pit Detox Kit.
My friend Maxime at Coconut Matter tells me that the pack of 4 deodorants are a years supply so that is me sorted for the next year in deodorant, yay! They definitely last well, one deodorant lasting around 4 months.
They are hypoallergenic and don’t contain silicones. They don’t leave behind any residue, phew! They help create a healthy skin environment, inhibit odour-causing bacteria and absorb sweat. Very important!
Coconut Matter use fresh wild virgin coconut oil from the Solomon Islands, farmed and produced by hand with local farmers and communities under fair trade conditions. Even though Coconut Matter eco friendly deodorants are made with coconut oil, they will not melt, even in hot and humid conditions.
There is no stickiness, just cool, hydrated and dry pits! Do not worry about stains either, they’ve got you covered. How refreshing! I love smelling my pits now haha.
Righto, so if you want to try out Coconut Matter natural deodorant for yourselves check out their website here – coconutmatter.com
So needless to say I am a huge fan of Coconut Matter eco friendly natural deodorants! I am delighted to be helping promote such a wonderful brand and very grateful to be a part of such an exciting zero waste movement. If you do go ahead and try these, let me know how you get on in the comments. I love hearing your feedback.
Hope you love them as much as I do if you do try them. Aren’t they so pretty too?!
