Henna Hair Dye for Natural, Shiny & Beautiful Locks

This week I am talking about henna hair dye for natural, shiny and beautiful locks. So a couple of weeks ago I was away in Morocco and decided to have my hair dyed professionally with henna. Not many hairdressers use it these days so I was delighted to have the opportunity to get it done in Morocco where it is still used regularly. I had hoped to find somewhere that did it, since I noticed there were lots of henna tattoo places around.

Luckily, there was a spa around the corner from where we were staying that had a hairdressers. I asked them and they were happy to use henna hair dye instead of the standard chemical kind. Although not that commonly used as a hair dye, they often obliged when people asked. They informed me the process would take a little longer than usual due to the extra time it takes to prepare and apply. They asked me if I had ever used henna before and I assured them I had. read more

DIY Flaxseed Gel & Aloe Vera Gel for Hair

stocking over container and flaxseeds in sieve

Hi Everyone!

I have been trying out some new natural products such as DIY flaxseed gel and aloe vera for my curly hair recently. I have read so many rave reviews online about the DIY flaxseed gel from lots of curly hair blogs and on Pinterest so I decided to try it out for myself. I had some flaxseeds in the cupboard as I eat them with my cereal in the mornings often. You can buy them in most health food shops. It is a simple process but it is quite messy and takes a bit of time.

Aloe vera is a fantastic product to have in your beauty regime. I wrote an extensive post on the benefits here. Although I regularly use aloe vera gel on my skin, I had never used it in my hair until now. Considering I recently discovered that gel works really well in taming my unruly curls, I decided to give it a go. Firstly though, I will show you how the flax seed gel is made and what my verdict on that was. Here goes… read more

How to Get Perfect Natural Curls

perfect natural curls

A year and a half ago I embraced my natural curls and decided to give up my hair straightening days. So far it has been a long and laborious battle in my quest to tame my unruly mane. Having straightened my hair for many years, my hair was in serious need of some TLC. Hair straighteners are particularly bad for curly hair as it breaks the hair if used consistently and without a heat protector. Sadly, my hair had experienced a lot of breakage and was extremely dry from the process. Here is how to get perfect natural curls to be proud of! read more

Niacinimide, Biotin, Spirulina and Omega 3 Supplements

Niacinimide, Biotin, Omega 3 and Spirulina on a plate

I have been taking Niacinamide, Biotin, Spirulina and Omega 3 supplements for the last month and I have noticed great improvement in my skin, hair and nails. My nails are so much stronger and growing so quick now. I had been wanting to try Biotin for quite a while now as I am trying to grow my hair and had read that it is the best supplement to take for that. Biotin seemed to be expensive in most of the health shops but I managed to find a really reasonably priced one online to decided to give it a go. Obviously I won’t notice too much difference in my hair length just yet as it has only been a month but my nails are much stronger, I have had to cut them twice this month! That is impressive, they aren’t even breaking and I’m delighted about that as they were quite brittle before. My hair feels softer, shinier and healthier so I think I will stick with these supplements as my hair was very brittle and dry before and nothing seemed to be working in terms of hair oil masks and deep treatments. I guess I may have been deficient in some vitamins and nutrients. read more
