Hemp Oil for Health and Skincare

hemp seeds for health and skin

Hemp oil is a nutty flavored oil that comes from the raw seeds of the Hemp plant. It is not to be confused with hash oil, although it is derived from the same plant and has loads of benefits. I am going to share the long list of those benefits of using hemp oil for health and skincare.

A couple of things I need to mention firstly, is that hemp oil is not recommended for anyone taking blood thinners or anyone suffering from prostate cancer. You should consult your doctor before taking any supplement so do speak with your healthcare provider about it.

It is mainly used as a dietary supplement and as a skincare product. It’s rich in protein, omega 3 and 6, polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E and insoluble fiber. Its has antioxidants and tocopherols.

It contains omega 9 for better heart health and also sitosterol which helps reduce cholesterol. Essential fatty acids help various skin problems such as psoriasis, eczema, dry skin and acne.

Hemp oil can help prevent skin cancer and helps maintain hormonal balance. It can increase immunity and improve cardiovascular health.

Apart from all the health benefits, it actually tastes great too. It has a nutty flavor which goes well in salads and can be used as an olive oil substitute.

It is a wonderful non-comodegenic moisturizer and works better than coconut oil for that reason. It won’t clog the pores so especially good for those with oily skin and open pores.

It can prevent premature skin aging. Studies show that the linoleic acid in hemp oil can slow down the aging process and also help treat psoriasis.

It can be taken for menopause as it regulates hormones.

Due to its omega 3 and 6 content it is a natural emolliant and moisturizer. It improves the skins elasticity and holds in moisture. For this reason it can also be used as a hair conditioner and deep treatment with excellent results.

The nutrients in hemp oil help to moderate blood sugar levels so it is used by diabetics as a food supplement or additive.

Hemp oil boosts the immune system. It regulates internal flora which builds a natural resistance against microbes.

It can help to prevent varicose veins and reduce blood clots due to the thinning of the blood and omega 3 content.

It also helps prevents psoriasis from occurring. Psoriasis is mainly caused by a deficiency in omega 6. It improves the hydration and oxygenates the skin by boosting the omega 6 level.

Little hype over this wonderful natural oil means we really don’t hear much about it so I was amazed at all the fantastic health and skincare benefits of hemp oil. I love coconut oil and use it for almost everything but I don’t like the taste when cooking with it and also I can’t use it as a facial moisturizer as I have open pores that clog easily.

I read up on it and decided to buy some. It really tastes yum but if you heat it to above 120 degrees it loses its potency and health benefits. Perfect on a salad or anything else you would use olive oil on.

It works really well on babies nappy rash too so a great natural product that is fine for baby and genuinely works! I know a few people who suffer with psoriasis who will be keen to know about it for sure. Will keep you posted and I may try out the hemp milk which is another way to take it so stay tuned for that.
